It will support the development of sustainable technologies aligned with the energy transition, decarbonisation and electrification of the economy

It forms part of a £30m programme to move the UK towards a circular economy, in which waste products and materials are reused, repaired or recycled to extend their lifecycle

It is expected to help the government company to better understand the scale of the issue, the nature of the problem and identify any further detailed research to inform changes to its current policy or design standards

The money will be used to equip the scientists, universities and research institutes across the UK with state-of-the-art technology
